Wikileaks Spy Files 3


Hey guys, I wasn't able to read all the documentation yet but in these documents you can see how
companies sell to governments, maybe other companies?, all your internet/phone traffic details.

Documentation is highly technical, who knows maybe I'll post something in plain English about this...
 
On Wednesday 4 September 2013 at 1600 UTC, WikiLeaks released 'Spy Files #3' – 249 documents
from 92 global intelligence contractors. These documents reveal how, as the intelligence world has
privatised, US, EU and developing world intelligence agencies have rushed into spending millions on
next-generation mass surveillance technology to target communities, groups and whole populations.

Tube2Tone

I found a cool webapp, what it does is allow you to create ringtones or extract audio from a
Youtube video.
You write the Youtube video URL, the application will load the video and then you can start
recording the piece you want to use, when you're done, you click create and you will be able to
download, email or send a SMS with the audio clip you created in multiple formats like MP3,
WAV etc. It's really easy to use.
I really like the idea, although it haves some implementation problems, it doesn't work with
some videos, don't ask me why, and your network delay will impact the length of your clip, its
like you press stop but the webapp continues recording for some time, doesn't sound too bad, but
you'll find it bothering sooner or later.

Applause For Finland: First Country To Make Broadband Access A Legal Right

Kudos to the Finnish government, which has just
introduced laws guaranteeing broadband access to
every person living in Finland (5.5 million people, give
or take).

This is reportedly a first worldwide.

Starting July 2010, every person in Finland will have
the right to a one-megabit broadband connection as an
intermediate step, says the Ministry of Transport and
Communications. By the end of 2015, the legal right will
be extended to an impressive 100 Mb broadband
connection for everyone.

According to Wikipedia, approximately 79 percent of
the Finnish population use the Internet. Finland had
around 1.52 million broadband Internet connections by
the end of June 2007 or around 287 per 1,000
inhabitants.

Sarcos and Exoskeletons

Sup guyz, I found these two exoskeletons, one from Raytheon and the other from Berkeley
Bionics, anyone who had to walk for hours with a 100 lb backpack will instantly appreciate them.

Raytheon Company’s research facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, is developing a robotic suit for the
soldier of tomorrow. The exoskeleton is essentially a wearable robot that amplifies its wearer’s
strength, endurance and agility. Reminiscent of super heroes depicted in comic books and
Hollywood movies, the bleeding edge technology effectively blurs the lines between science
fiction and reality. So much so, that Popular Science magazine recently likened Raytheon’s
exoskeleton to the “Iron Man” depicted in the blockbuster movie of the same name.

Built from a combination of sensors, actuators and controllers, the futuristic suit enables a user
to easily carry a man on his back or lift 200 pounds several hundred times without tiring. Yet,
the suit, which is being developed for the U.S. Army, is also agile enough to let its wearer kick a
soccer ball, punch a speed bag, or climb stairs and ramps with ease.

Dr. Stephen Jacobsen leads this project and the Raytheon Sarcos team. He sees his work as a
combination of art, science, engineering and design. “People call it different things. Sometimes
they call it inventing, sometimes they call it engineering. Sometimes they call it being a mad
scientist. To us, it’s the process of getting together, understanding the problems, goals and then
designing something to satisfy the need.” Development of the exoskeleton has been underway
since 2000, when Jacobsen realized that if humans could work alongside robots, they should also
be able to work inside robots.

Exoskeleton test engineer Rex Jameson echoes his boss’ commitment and says he has one of the
best jobs in the company. “We get to write programs and we see them working on actual robots;
that’s very exciting. As far as software engineering goes, this job is about as good as it gets.”







Berkeley Bionics, designs and manufactures lower extremity exoskeletons to augment human
strength and endurance during locomotion. Berkeley Bionics exoskeletons increase wearer's
strength while decreasing their metabolic cost of walking. The company is also attacking the
technological barriers to a practical, affordable exoskeleton for civilian and medical applications,
particularly to assist patients with neurological or muscular mobility disorders. These powered
human exoskeletons would allow their wearers to walk upright without the strain and muscular
effort required by today's unpowered orthotic devices.

And ARhrrrr not only is my expression of hate because I'll need to sell a kidney to buy one in
Argentina, but an augmented reality shooter for mobile camera-phones. The phone provides a
window into a 3d town overrun with zombies. Point the camera at our special game map to mix
virtual and real world content. Civilians are trapped in the town, and must escape before the
zombies eat them! From your vantage point in a helicopter overhead, you must shoot the
zombies to clear the path for the civilians to get out. Watch out though as the zombies will fight
back, throwing bloody organs to bring down your copter. Move the phone quickly to dodge them.
You can also use Skittles as tangible inputs to the game, placing one on the board and shooting it
to trigger an explosion.

Augmented Reality Geisha

Probably most of you already saw some basic augmented reality(AR) application to handle 3D
models, but I never saw interactive AR.

Geisha Tokyo Entertainment created a virtual hentai doll that you can interact with, you can
even spank it, I personally think its a really bizarre way of loosing time, but its interesting from
a technical point of view.

New city in Florida to run on solar power

A Florida developer announced an ambitious plan Thursday for a 19,500-home city with energy-efficient buildings that will be ``the first city on earth powered by zero-emission solar energy.''

The new city, Babcock Ranch, will be developed by Kitson & Partners on 17,000 acres northeast of Fort Myers. It will include the world's largest photovoltaic power plant, which will be operated by Florida Power & Light. Buildings will be certified green and surrounded by thousands of acres of open space.

''We're out to prove that it works economically,'' developer Syd Kitson told The Miami Herald. ``And it's the right thing to do for the long-term solutions in this country.''

Though researchers are working to create storage capability for sunlight-generated power, solar electricity at present is available only during daytime hours.

Kitson's concept is that FPL's 75-megawatt solar generator will produce more power for the state's electric grid while the sun shines than the city will use in 24 hours. That means Babcock Ranch will have to rely on conventional power sources for the evening, but its net effect will a solar-only city.

The solar panels will sit on 350 acres within the development. More than half of the city's 17,000 acres will be permanently protected as greenways and open space, the developer said, and will adjoin the 73,000-acre Babcock Ranch Preserve that has been purchased by the state.

FPL estimates the Babcock solar facility will cost about $300 million and add about 31 cents to the average customer's monthly bill. Among other projects in the years ahead, the company is also working to add 1,200 megawatts of power fueled by natural gas in Palm Beach County and 2,200 megawatts of new nuclear power at Turkey Point.

AMERICA'S FUTURE

The Babcock project was announced Thursday in a press conference in Washington, attended by FPL executives, politicians and environmentalists. ''This is a national story,'' said Kitson, ``and we wanted to get it out to a broader audience. Clean energy and sustainable development are the future of America. This will be a living laboratory for companies, workers and families. And it will create jobs.''

The developer commissioned a study by Fishkind & Associates that reported the city of Babcock Ranch will generate 20,000 permanent jobs plus thousands of temporary positions for construction.

Kitson said all of the plans are contingent on the real-estate economy recovering, but he believes the green aspects of the project will entice many who will bypass traditional developments now in foreclosure.

The developer said Babcock Ranch will have an integrated ''smart grid'' allowing power users to monitor and control their energy consumption. ''All commercial buildings and homes in the new city will be certified as energy-efficient and constructed according to Florida Green Building Council standards,'' the company said.

Kitson, a former offensive guard with the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys, is head of the developing group based in Palm Beach Gardens. For the past several years, he has been engaged in complex efforts to develop the area after purchasing the 90,000-acre Babcock Ranch in 2006 -- an area five times the size of Manhattan.

After lengthy negotiations, he arranged to sell 73,000 acres to the state for about $350 million for what has become the Babcock Ranch Preserve, a permanent open space. He then worked with Charlotte County to develop the remaining 17,000 acres -- and ran into trouble with environmentalists.

DENSITY RIGHTS

''We sued to stop the permit,'' recalled Frank Jackalone, the Sierra Club's Florida staff director. The ranch had been zoned for one house per 10 acres, but the developer transferred all the density rights of the preserve to the acres he was developing -- and then more than doubled density in an agreement with the county.

In settlement negotiations, ''we developed very strong rules on how they should operate,'' said Jackalone, including the use of renewable energy, water restrictions and open space.

But Thursday's announcement went far beyond the agreement worked out with the Sierra Club. ''That was a very pleasant surprise,'' said Jackalone. ``We were thrilled. It provides a model for the country -- a high benchmark for others to try to reach.''

The solar project will be the fourth planned by FPL. The first three, totaling 110 megawatts, were planned after the Legislature passed a bill allowing a utility to have full-cost recovery of renewable energy projects up to 110 megawatts.

FPL spokeswoman Jackie Anderson said the Babcok solar project is contingent upon approvals from the Public Service Commission and action by the Legislature to approve new arrangements for renewable energy that would make the project economically worthwhile.

Kitson said the new city will include a wide range of housing, from models affordable for blue-collar workers to upscale manses.

Subject to approvals, groundbreaking on the solar plant could start later this year. Construction of the city center could begin next year. Plans include six million square feet of retail, commercial, office, civic and light industrial space.

Lightning Hash Cracker

Estuve probando el LHC de Elcomsoft.
Basicamente es un password cracker que usa tecnologia CUDA para generar hashes MD5 a los palos.

Basically the Nvidia chip is a parallel procesor for mathematical operations. And this would be used like in 386 times, when some machines had a mathematical co processor.



In the above graphic you can see that it kills a normal processor performance in math ops, thats because the chipset is specifically designed to do the same math ops at really high speed in different data simultaneously.

Ok, some guys realized they could use that processing power to do other things instead of calculating doom 3 monsters, but they needed to use the normal graphics API , and that was a pain in the ass.

But Nvidia guys created a new API, just to use the parallel processing power of the board for simulations, or in this case, to generate hashes, the API is called CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture).

Actually I don't know what those commies registered, but using that API, ANY math op that is applied to multiple data, can be accelerated.

Bue, la idea es que en ese entonces los rusos como de costumbre ya tenian toolz privadas para bruteforcear MD5, nosotros nos creemos piolas pero cuando nosotros vamos los rusos ya estan de vuelta hace rato, algun dia capaz que me pongo a hablar sobre esto...

Yo lo estube probando un rato, tengo una Nvidia 8600 GTX y camina lindo tengo un average de 70.5 M hashes con un Intel Core2Duo 8400E.
Les cuento que por mas que usa la GPU le pega un castigo considerable al CPU tambien...
